Natalia L.K Lanvaldear : CHARACTER PROFILE
Hi! I am going to simply Outline how Natalia characters are and how her characteristics are developed as the game progresses.
Quick description
Natalia Luzu Kimlasca Lanvaldear (Kimlasca origin) is the only child to His Majesty Ingobert The Sixth. Her childhood was narrated as the beloved daughter of Ingobert until she grew up to take the duty as a princess of Kimlasca Kingdom before her true past was revealed. She appeared when Luke finally returned to the Manor after being teleported by Seventh Fonon along with Tear. Apparently, she was a childhood friend of Luke's and Guy's (Well, Guy was their servants after all) as she remembered Luke's promise to marry her someday.
Aside from helping her father rule over Kimlasca by staying in the castle, her task is also becoming an ambassador of Kimlasca to other factions.
Not only was her looks elegant, she was also truly above average princess with wealth of knowledge over ruler's duties, welfare of her people, situation of her country. This is proven by her remarks in several topics on why had to rush to Akzeriuth, why she had to tag along with the party, as well as why she had to urge peace treaty with Malkuth as to avert conflicts.
Apparently, Natalia spent most of her childhood adapting to Royalty life, studying her beloved country, and dedicating herself to the people while practicing her battle style (archery & healing) under guidance of a mentor, I believe. There is not much to know about her parents because there was no record found of the Queen's identity while King Ingobert the sixth was directly narrated as her father, and she had no siblings except a cousin (Luke / Asch).
Although she never left the castle since early age, her sense of humanitarian duty to her people was incredibly strong, making her loved by Kimlascan citizens for every wise actions she took for their prosperity.
Her dedication and humility appeared to bear fruition, leading her to be even more trusted a position of the Kimlascan ambassador next to Luke for foreign diplomacy affair.
Personality
Natalia has always been humble, trustworthy, and independent as well as persistent. Moreover, she never complained doing adventure in any circumstances for the sake of Kimlasca. What pleased Natalia the most was pacifist lifestyle, Kimlascan citizen prosperity, and meeting Asch. Gotta say it was her natural character since her father raised her with compassion instead of spoiling her.
Her involvement in the party was actually not expected (she persistently forced her way in), but she managed to have leverage over Luke when she overheard conversation between Luke and Van, but she kept it secret if she was allowed to join. To the end of story, she never once revealed Luke & Van conversation to other party members, making her a trustworthy character.
Her diplomatic charisma was always noticeable as she never stopped saying all about ruler's duties, then kept trying to do her best to maintain peace anywhere. However, she was prone to overdo herself as if she could put all burden on her shoulders.
Natalia never bothered about trivial things; such as fancy clothes, decent meal, money etc. As matter of fact, she wanted nothing but to socialize with her citizens about their well-being, how they felt about their daily life, what was bothering them, and so on.
About romantic affair, she was obviously reluctant to discuss it because it was her father's decision to make, so she preferred career to personal life. Plus, this was all done not for her ambition of winning as much influence as possible, but her genuine integrity
In Battle
Natalia is both long-range fighter and healer, but her P.ATTACK is LOW (sorry she is not an archer with high F.ATTACK or P.ATTACK). BUT, IF your liking is DOUBLE HEALING and fast caster, then she is the ONE while you can use some of her fast archery base/arcane artes. Her basic attacks are shooting 3 arrows, but there are knife attacks or whatsoever because her main role was only an archer (best know how to keep your distance.
Natalia compensated her low damage with medium rapid arrow firing, so if you love combo your rapid attack, she is the best pick for moderate damage with base or arcane archery arte to protect your casters. Plus, her F DEF is not that bad while her P. DEF is sufficient.
Do Be CAREFUL when you want her to attack enemies with her arrow shooting as her shooting has no standard range, so it is best measure her distance by yourself with close quarter enemies for opening for free run. Very recommended to use her when Tear fails to cast heal; otherwise, you will have to wait for re-casting.
Early Game
Natalia is the most mature royalty member whose style can be a mix of humble and authoritarian, making her a standing out leader among others. I can say her dream is prosperity, world peace, and harmony. She can not stand the situation that puts her people in danger, but she never forgot to be rational in actions.
OH Yea, when Luke and others tried to chase ION by going to abandoned oil factory, Natalia even came along of her own volition by sneaking out of the castle since she could not just sit around the castle then watch.
In order to see the end of tensions between two nations as well as save people in Akzeriuth, Natalia
forced her way in the party to help as best as she could although she knew she would have to go through ardous journey (NO! I WILL NOT RETURN TO THE CASTLE!)
She could be a dominant party member at some point since her will just easily overpowered others, so there was no point arguing with her over her involvement. Plus, she was not a spoiled type regardless of how harsh the environments could be.
In serious mode, she repulsed the idea of world domination born out of blood initiated by Van because she knew prosperity and harmony should uphold the idea of freedom. Also, her humanitarian characteristic was shown as she tried to save as many lives as possible during the tour of saving Akzeriuth, evacuating Engeve citizens from war, even daring herself save a child named John by crossing sea of toxic miasma only to find him swallowed later by miasma right before her.
In Brief
JOY OF PEOPLE IS MY JOY, ONLY ASCH IN MY MIND, I WILL NEVER PUT MY KINGDOM IN DANGER, I SHALL LEAD MY KINGDOM TO PROSPERITY, AND DO WHATEVER YOU CAN FOR OTHERS, (Gotta say Natalia loves overworking herself by saying everything she did was still not good enough).
MID-END GAME
Natalia could be said strong at heart even after failing to save Akzeriuth even a little child just before her. As matter of fact, Natalia, I believe, just did not want to talk to Luke at all after Akzeriuth collapse, but this did not mean she was reluctant to give another try to save the world while watching over someone trying to change like Luke's commitment (this is because Natalia never lost faith in Luke despite knowing how embarassing it was to have Luke as a fellow noble). The farther the story progressed, the more critical the situation got, making Natalia face her hidden childhood secret.
SADLY, Natalia parents were never a pair of nobles let alone king and queen.
Largo the Black Lion (one of Six God Generals) whose original name was Badaq, suprisingly, was the biological father of Natalia's while his was wife was Sylvia as Largo himself confirmed that he had a picture of Natalia in his lockett. Even he shared a story that his wife so disillusioned that she committed to drown herself in Baticul harbor after not being able to comprehend the fact that their stillborn daughter Meryl (Natalia stillborn name) (who was swapped with original Princess of Kimlasca) died while he was still guarding merchants as a mercenary. When Largo learnt the truth later then breached into the castle, he was apprehended then exiled only to find Van Grants later then joined his ranks.
Natalia swapping was actually foretold in the Score, and this was completely a joke to Largo because No Parents would ever give up on their child because of prophecy. Hence, his defiance was reflected on his teaming up with Van who would later become more extreme.
Natalia also had a bitter pill of truth when she learnt that she was not a true descendant of Kimlascan Noble due to physical traits such as eye color and hair color. This is technically justifiable because the real daughter of Ingobert's died during childbirth. Hence, as a result of Mohs cunning influence tactic inciting war, Ingobert the Sixth found himself disillusioned (Well, he was also aware of his daughter replacement), and had to strain relationship with Natalia temporarily.
While fleeing from the castle, Natalia and the party members had to face whole Kimlascan army with the help of Asch and loyal Kimlascan citizens to Natalia. This did not simply end here because she had to figure out a way to re-build her confidence after being indirectly unacknowledged by her very own father.
Aside from all that family feud, Her bond developed stronger than before with other party members as she learnt more about others' background stories such as Guy's childhood trauma, Tear's conflict with her brother. Even her relationship with Anise grew healthier when Anise tried to tell Natalia not to bother herself too much about Largo's remarks and ideals to her, and walk on her own path and principle instead.
Okay, about Natalia's status as unacknowledged daughter, when the party had to return to Baticul eventually, Natalia began to find her purpose in life which prioritizes lives of thousands of citizens first than circumstances of her birth (Lowering outer land means everything than one's family feud)
then encourage herself to face the king once more to prove that she is INDEED true daughter Ingobert has raised the whole time. THANKFULLY, FON MASTER ION had the power of protection under Daath to see the party to the king's chamber (cool influence there).
Luke first successfully managed to show a compelling case about his existence as merely replica to real Luke, then matched his case with Natalia's. Natalia here presented herself convincingly about all the time and memories she cherished with her father as genuine bond of father-daughter. In essence, all that matters is their paternal bond than trivial birth traits. INSTANTLY, Ingobert came to his senses thanks to Natalia's love for people and country that he already long lost and forgot, leading him to re-accept his own daughter for good.
If you ever wonder why Natalia and Asch never get together. Well, Asch was simply a timid, yet caring guy to Natalia. He claimed he forgot that marriage proposal to Natalia as well as those childhood swears that Natalia made with Luke. Those are crappy reasons.
Asch always had a hard time expressing his feelings to Natalia. He knew that Natalia was scared about being unacknoedged by her father and being fake Kimlascan Princess, and he decided to show up in Sheridan before the party went to Baticul. Asch even comforted her by reciting the promise they made back in childhood. Here goes “...Some day, when we're grown up, let's change this country.” "change it so that no one has to be poor. Change it so that war never happens.". after this conversation, Asch left then told her to do as best as she could for her people not to bother with trivial things. I assume this promise was the 'marriage proposal'Natalia meant in different way. As a result, Natalia gained more optimism and a slight romantic heartwarming moment with Asch alone.
Natalia is obsessed with Asch, for he is charming as well as ideal person to her preferrence. I assume his friendly cheerful and attitude to Natalia was what made Natalia keep the memory back when Asch was still Luke who took Natalia outside the castle for the first time then play along with other kids as well as Guy. Who knew a simple thing as playing outside castle would be so deeply memorable for Natalia. Perhaps life of young highness was quite possibly a strict one with rules here and there. Thus, finding one cheerful male friend was the second best gift ever happened to Natalia (her first realistic social interaction).
When Asch died of multiple stab wounds after battling with oracle soldiers to cover Luke's back, Natalia was completely desperate to hear the news from Luke, but strong enough at heart to accept the reality.
